Bell, Vera M. (01/15/2014)

Vera M. Bell, age 88, of Winona, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014, at Lake Winona Manor.

She was born on July 18, 1925, in Bethany, Winona County, Minn., to Gustav and Emma (Rausch) Lattman. She was united in marriage with Clarence Bell on August 24, 1945, in San Diego, Calif. Clarence preceded her in death on August 20, 2000.

Vera was employed for many years as a cook in the food service at St. Mary’s College and Winona State University.

She was a member of the Winona Women’s Bowling Association, the Eagle’s Club Auxiliary, and she was a life member of the Elks Club, where she was named Elks Citizen of the Year in 2007.

Vera will be remembered for her love of dancing, cooking, designing silk floral arrangements for weddings, decorating for the holidays, spending time at the cottage in Buffalo City, and watching all of the activity on Broadway from her front porch. Family was very important to Vera – she was an excellent mother and grandmother, and she always enjoyed spending holidays with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Vera is lovingly survived by her children: James Bell, Winona; Thomas (Cindy) Bell, Winona; Duane Bell, Winona; Patti (Darrell) Volkman, Winona; and Steven (Tina) Bell, Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren: Hollie (Jamie) Niemeyer; Tyson (Shannon) Bell; Torrey (Melissa) Bell; Todd (Carol) Bell; Shane Volkman; Travis (Emilie) Volkman; CheyAnn (David) Cohen; Leigh (fiancé Ed Leipart) Bell; Ryan Bell; Jenna (fiancé Chris Sullivan) Bell; and Jacob Bell; great-grandchildren: Jacey, Jordan, Jayden, Jannessa, Ashton, Trace, Rayne, Savannah, Autumn, Deidra, and Aaron; brother: Lyle Lattman; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Allen; parents; daughters-in-law: Suzanne Bell and Rita Bell; and her brother, LuVerne Lattman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Schoen will officiate.
