Thanks to public officials (01/19/2014)
From: Winona County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC)-

Lynn Theurer Co- chair & Lori Ortega, Program Chair

On behalf of the Winona County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) and the Minnesota, League of Women Voters — Winona, we sincerely thank each of the following local public officials for sharing their governance processes and goals for 2014. Legislative House representatives Gene Pelowski and Steve Drazkowski, Senator Matt Schmit, mayor of Goodview Steve Baumgart, mayor of Winona Mark Peterson, mayor of St. Charles Bill Spitzer, School Board Chair Mohamed Elhindi, County Board Vice Chair Steve Jacob, County Attorney Karin Sonneman, and District Judges Jeffery Thompson and Mary Leahy offered current issues to maintain or areas of improvement for the Winona community. They noted several planned projects and the resources to achieve them. The comments from those in the audience, by their public statements, noted of how fortunate the Winona Community is to have local officials that are accessible and will have the “critical and necessary civil dialogue” for the public good. We echo their observations on our thoughts, too.

Senator Jeremy Miller, Larry Ruprrecht, Lewiston City Council and Sheriff Dave Brand were invited to attend, but they had other public duties on that day. We look forward to working with all our local officials in 2014 on the issues in our community and state, with the hope that it can make continuous improvement in the lives of all of our citizens.
