January 20

Winona Shrine Auxiliary will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, at Westfield Golf Club. The menu will be stir fry, fried rice, egg roll, salad, roll, and dessert. For reservations call Jane Haugan at 454-4253. Winter weather rule - if schools are called off for snow, Shrine will not meet. We do not meet in February.

January 21

Bundles of Love meeting, St Paul’s Episcopal Church 265 Lafayette, Winona, 6:00-9:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to cut out infant clothing, quilts or knit or crochet. Community service groups are welcome to sign up for a meeting night. Material, yarn and notions are needed to continue our efforts to provide for needy babies in the local area. January 22

The regular monthly meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Education District Board of Directors is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Hiawatha Valley Education District, 1410 Bundy Boulevard, Winona. Minnesota City Community Readers will meet on Thursday, January 23, at 6:30 p.m. at 115 Iowa Street, Minnesota City. The book being discussed is Snake Dreams by James Doss. All readers are invited whether or not they have read the book. The next meeting is February 27th and the book selection is Killing Lincoln by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard. A reminder that the Minnesota City Book Shelf (take a book/leave a book) located in the entrance of the building will be open on the 23rd from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

January 27

Winona Area Retired Educators Association (WAREA) will hold a membership meeting on Monday, January 27, at 8:30 a.m. at Perkins in Winona. Representative Gene Pelowski is the guest speaker. The Winona Area Coin Club will be meeting on Sunday, February 2, at 11:30 a.m. at the Winona Athletic Club meeting hall, 773 East Fifth Street, Winona.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.  A family support group meets in Winona at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, at Winona Health, 855 Mankato Avenue, in the Parkview conference room. The Widowed Persons Social Group (January) meets for breakfast every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Family Restaurant (formerly Country Kitchen), 1611 Service Drive, Winona.
