Schwab, Richard Eldon (01/22/2014)
Richard Eldon Schwab, age 88, of Buffalo City, Wis., passed away January 11, 2014, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, as a result of complications from a fall.

He was born on April 27, 1925, in Winona, Minn., to Ralph and Clara (Russell) Schwab.

Richard was a graduate of Winona Senior High School and attended Winona State University for two years.

Richard honorably served his country as a member of the 2nd Infantry Division of the United States Army during World War II, from 1943 until 1945.

In 1948, Richard was united in marriage to Grace Larson. Richard was an employee of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 40 years. He began his career as a yard clerk on the swing shift, then transferred to Chicago as station manager for six years. He then returned to his hometown as agent at the Winona station, from which he retired in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 65 and one-half years, Grace; daughter, Susan (Gene) Grotjahn; son, Jeff (Liz) Schwab; all of Buffalo City; grandchildren, Kyle Schwab of Buffalo City, Sara Schwab of Atlanta, Ga., Aaron Jensen of Milaca, Minn., Tom Johnston of Richfield, Minn., and Tim Lovas of Winona, Minn.; and two great- grandchildren, Alivia Schwab and Gracie Jo Leider.

Preceding Richard in death were his parents; sister, Marion La Bohn; and two brothers: Ralph and Phillip Schwab.

Richard will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Talbot Family Funeral Homes Scenic Rivers Cremation Center assisted the family with arrangements.
