Belva Lucille Briska, 98, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her home in Careywood, Idaho.
Belva was born on November 15, 1915, in Preston, Minn., to Charles and Gladys Wilbright. She married Earl J. Briska on January 1, 1936, at St. Johnís Catholic Church in Winona, Minn.
In 1956, Belva and Earl moved to Upland, Calif., and over the next 36 years, the couple owned and operated several oil companies and convenience stores. Earl passed away in 1977, and in 1997 Belva moved to North Idaho to be closer to family.
She was a member of St. Johnís Catholic Church, where she served as Alter Society President. She enjoyed sewing and needlework, collecting rocks and gems, traveling in her motor home, and reading.
She is survived by her son: Charles Briska of Careywood, Idaho; daughter, Marilyn Johnson of Rock Springs, Wyo.; step-son LeGrande Campbell of Careywood, Idaho.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Briska, son, Ted Briska, daughter, Faith Kulas, two brothers: Rex and Thane Wilbright, and one sister, Elaine Pagel.
Graveside services and burial will be held at St. Maryís Catholic Cemetery in Winona, Minnesota, Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. Deacon Justin Green will officiate.
