The Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) Board will interview six superintendent candidates during an open meeting on Wednesday, February 12, at the district office in the Winona Senior High School building.
The public will have the chance to observe the six semi-finalists while they field questions from School Board members, but two other interview panels will not be open to members of the public. A committee composed of community members and leaders will query the candidates privately, as will a committee including teachers and union representatives.
WAPS used the search firm BKB Consultants to help recruit candidates to find a replacement for current superintendent Scott Hannon, who will retire at the close of this school year.
The six finalists named for the next WAPS superintendent are: Stephen Flisk, currently an associate superintendent at Minneapolis Public Schools; Steven Jordahl, current associate superintendent at Nacel International Schools in St. Paul; Paul Neubauer, current director of curriculum and instruction for Independent School District 15 in St. Francis; Patrick Sweeney, currently an assistant superintendent at Paradise Valley Unified School District in Arizona; Stephen West, current executive director of educational services for Eden Prairie Schools; and Ron Wilke, current superintendent for the La Crescent-Hokah School district.
