Gale Star shows at Old Main (02/23/2014)
Old Main in Galesville has a lineup of Gale Star shows to keep audiences looking forward and marking their calendars. The venue will offer a “Special Edition” of advanced college student musicians Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. Some of the best vocal students in the region will appear. The price of all shows except the dinner show is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for college students and younger.

Saturday, March 1 “Crooked Willow” will take the platform at 7:30. This is a newly formed group with Tim Waller as the leader. The style is folk and bluegrass with an offering of original music as well as old favorites.

Old Main will feature a show of “Coulee Young Musicians” with two special short productions by the Busy Bees 4-H Club, as well as young musicians from northern La Crosse County. The “Coulee Young Musicians” show will be Sunday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m.

If you’re hungry for corned beef and cabbage some of the best Trempealeau County cooks will take care of that Saturday, March 15 at 6:00 p.m. with a dinner menu that includes Irish soda bread, jam, and dessert as well as corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $10 twelve and under. Doug Mahlum and family will top the dinner off with a music show featuring Irish songs.

If you would like to hear more great Irish music, Saturday, March 22, the “Heart Strings” harp circle will fill your heart with Irish music again at the 7:30 p.m. show. The Old Main audience fell in love with “Heart Strings” a year ago, and they will be back. The relationship is mutual.

Go to www.oldmain.org for a full listing of shows. This is also the place to check for possible cancellations due to bad weather or an ill performer. The Old Main auditorium is on the third floor, and the performing arts committee has purchased video equipment to feed shows to the first floor for people with handicapping conditions. Volunteers will be needed to operate the equipment. Old Main is located at the south end of 12th Street. Turn south from West Gale or West Ridge. Follow signs. You may purchase advance tickets at the Common Market in Galesville or call 608-582-4442.
