February 22

The Winona Area Genealogy Roundtable will meet on Saturday, February 22, at Hardee’s at 9:30 a.m. in the meeting room.  Members and guests are welcome.  Bring your search problems.  Maybe we can help.

The Friends of the Winona Public Library will meet on Saturday, February 22, at 9 a.m., in the library Art Room (2nd floor). Our organization promotes and fund-raises to support the programs and collections offered by the library. All are welcome.

February 23

Winona Area Coin Club will be at the AmericInn, 60 Riverview Drive, Winona, between 12:30-4 p.m. Anyone interested in joining or just curious about the club is free to stop in. Feel free to bring the family along. Membership is free. Free items handed out to new members joining while they last. Items will also be on display.

February 25

Sons of Norway will meet Tuesday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church (Huff & Wabasha). David Schultz and Connie Miller will report on their extensive land and sea trip through Norway last July. The public is invited to join with the Nor-Win lodge members.

The Winona Area Crime Stoppers Board of Directors monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 25, at Timbers Restaurant in Winona. The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

February 26

The regular monthly meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Education District Board of Directors is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Hiawatha Valley Education District, 1410 Bundy Boulevard, Winona.  Please contact Glenn Haupt, Executive Director, at 507-452-1200, extension 102 if you have any questions.

March 6

Cathedral’s Young at Heart will meet on March 6, starting with 12:10 p.m. Mass, followed  by a lunch of pork loin, mashed potatoes with gravy, glazed carrots pickled beets, apple sauce, roll, and lemon bars. Entertainment will be music by Msgr. Colletti. Make reservation by calling Marge at 454-3433 no later than March 3rd. Let her know if you need a ride. Cost is $3. All are welcome.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive (Faith Lutheran Church). For more information call 507-313-9992

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.  A family support group meets in Winona at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, at Winona Health, 855 Mankato Avenue, in the Parkview conference room. Widowed  Meet  and  Eat. Socialization is the greatest need of widowed people.  Come and join us every Monday in February at 11 a.m. at Perkin’s.  Please call Gladys 452-1555 for information.

Caregiver Support Group for Adults Age 55 & Better Group provides an opportunity to meet with other caregivers to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, as well as learn about new resources. The group meets the 1st Wednesday of each month from 2-3 p.m. at the Elder Network office, 1756 Kraemer Drive, Suite 110, Winona.  Contact Renee Kreter at 452-0580 for more information.

The Ribbon Warriors cancer support group meets at Callista Court, 1455 W. Broadway, every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. We are all women who celebrate that we have had cancer and we are beating it. Ribbon Warriors is open to any woman who has been diagnosed with cancer and would like to come join us. If you have any questions you may call Diane Passehl at 507-452-2679.

Military Order of the Purple Heart meets the first Wednesday of the month at the American Legion, 302 E Sarnia St.  Winona, at 7:00 p.m.  If you are, or know a combat wounded veteran, come join us. Membership is free and we will keep you informed and help you navigate the Veterans Administration.

Alzheimer’s Disease and other Related Dementia’s Support Group, meets the second Wednesday of every month 6:00-7:00 p.m. Parkview Conference room, Winona Health. Our schedule rotates from one month open discussion and the next month has a program. If questions, call Diane Hanke 454-5419 or Cheryl Krage 494-7496.
