Teens injured, one seriously, in crash (04/07/2014)
By Amelia Wedemeyer
On Thursday, March 3, at 6:02 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a report of an accident causing serious injuries at the intersection of Highway 61 and Orrin Street. Aaron W. Walters, 26, of Martinez, Calif., was traveling southbound on Highway 61 in a Chevy truck when he struck a Saturn Ion carrying three Winona teenagers as it entered Highway 61 from Orrin Street. A passenger in the Saturn Ion, Kaitlin A. Ingle, 16, was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Winona Health and subsequently airlifted to Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, Wis. The driver of the Saturn Ion, Carissa M. Drackley, 17, and another passenger, Abbe C. Partington, 17, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to Winona Health. Walters appeared to have no injuries. The Winona Fire Department and Winona Ambulance assisted.
