Greener pastures for Dahl Chevrolet (04/16/2014)
By Patrick Marek
If all goes as planned, Winona’s Chevrolet store will be leaving its longtime location at the foot of the Interstate Bridge and moving to greener pastures. That’s because Dahl Automotive has just announced an agreement to purchase the land currently occupied by Cornerstone Community Church. The church has been a longtime neighbor of Dahl Toyota on Highway 61, and will be the ideal spot to relocate the landmark Winona Chevrolet dealership.

“In a perfect world, Dahl Chevrolet would have remained in our current location,” said Dahl Automotive Vice President of Operations Dan Swift. “However, the realities of the Interstate Bridge construction forced us to search for another location for the dealership. Although we considered a number of possibilities, the Cornerstone Community Church property was always our first choice. Its proximity to our Toyota dealership, and the convenience and visibility of being adjacent to Highway 61, makes it an ideal future home for Dahl Chevrolet. After thoughtful and cordial negotiations with the members of Cornerstone Community Church we have reached a mutually beneficial agreement to purchase the property.”

On Monday, April 28, the Winona City Planning Commission will be considering a request by Cornerstone Community Church and Dahl Automotive to rezone the property from R-1 (one-family residential) to B-3 (general commercial). Pending zoning approval, closing is scheduled for July 2. Cornerstone Community Church will announce its new location at an appropriate time.

Although the Dahl Chevrolet team and guests are excited about the potential of a beautiful new home, everyone is quick to point out that it is going to be business as usual for the near future for the dealership.

“We want all of our loyal guests to know that they will continue to receive the same friendly service and great value at our current location at the foot of the Interstate Bridge in Winona,” maintained Swift. “We’re looking forward to the future with great excitement.”
