Dyngus Day at the Polish Museum (04/16/2014)
On the Monday after Easter, April 21 this year, the Polish people celebrate Dyngus Day, a tradition arising from religious ritual that reminds its participants of their Baptism. It involves spritzing — or dousing — the young ladies of Poland with water. Many women will not leave their homes on Dyngus Day for fear of having their clothing destroyed.

At the Polish Museum we commemorate this day rather than the tradition itself by honoring those people who lend their time and talent as volunteers to keep the museum in operation. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on April 21, there will be a light supper with refreshments and desserts. The event will be held in the Morrison Annex 363 East Second Street. This is a party for the helpers, but all are invited to attend. For those who are newcomers to the museum, we welcome you. Come and see what we’re all about. This should be another great year with lots of activities. We can use your talents.
