Kohner, Rose Mary (04/28/2014)
Rose Mary Kohner, age 91, of Pickwick, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Lake Winona Manor, surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 17, 1923, in Winona, to Martin S. and Mary F. (Stellpflug) Bender, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941. Rose Mary married Roman Kamrowski, and she later married Bernard Kohner.

Rose Mary will be remembered for her love of crocheting, and for the many afghans she made for her family and friends. As an avid bird watcher, she was always interested in researching and finding out all she could about the birds that were around her home. She loved to travel, and often spoke of her trip to New York City as a young woman with her cousin Delores. One of her favorite destinations was to Florida where she and Bernie would visit her parents over the winter months — they had so many good times and made many memories with family and friends.

She was very devoted to her Catholic faith, and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in La Moille until it closed, at which time she became a member of St. Mary’s Church in Winona. Prior to getting married, Rose Mary was employed at Watkins in Winona, and she later worked at the Winona Knitting Mills for many years. Rose Mary was an excellent homemaker, and the job she loved the most was being a mom and grandma.

Rose Mary is lovingly survived by her daughter, Mary (Charles) Waldo; sons, Gerald (Christine) Kamrowski, Richard (Sue) Kamrowski, and Ronald (Nancy) Kamrowski; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; step-children, Jane and Constance; seven step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Marlene) Bender; sister-in-law, Christine Bender; brother-in-law, Joe (Shirley) Kamrowski; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Thorne, Clanette Gensmer, and Florence Kohner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Roman and Bernard; a great-granddaughter, Megan Waldo; and a brother, Joseph Bender.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona. The Reverend James Berning will officiate. Rose Mary will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held in the Commons of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be Marty Waldo, Jason Passow, Scott Kamrowski, Nick Kamrowski, Neil Kamrowski, Shawn Kamrowski, Tom Kamrowski, and Tom Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marie Passow, Stephanie Hale, Rachel Wruck, and Anne Lord.

Online condolences or memories may be left for Rose Mary’s family at www.watkowski-mulyck.com.
