Katherine J. Hardt, age 99, of Winona, died May 18, 2014, at Lake Winona Manor, Winona.
Katherine was born July 15, 1914, in Owatonna, Minn., to Abbott and Mary Frances (White) Sawyer. Her family moved to Winona when Katherine was seven years old. She graduated from Winona Senior High School and from the College of Saint Teresa, majoring in economics. She married Stanley M. Hardt on September 2, 1936, in Winona. Stanley preceded her in death on December 6, 1990.
She was a member of St. Paulís Episcopal Church in Winona, Chautauqua Club, Womenís Art Class, D.A.R., the YWCA, and Winona Health Auxiliary. Katherine assisted her husband in the family business, Hardtís Music Store in Winona.
Katherine is survived by a son, William Hardt, Mequon, Wis.; a daughter, Mary Hardt, Andover, Minn.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Margaret Kruse, Ariz.; cousin, Betsy Sawyer, Winona, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; a granddaughter, Jill Hardt; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Tuttle Hardt; and two sisters.
Funeral services to celebrate Katherineís life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at St. Paulís Episcopal Church, Winona, with Rev. Lawrence Green officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Winona, Minn.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to the Winona Health Foundation.
