Volunteering has become a big part of my life. My latest venture is Grace Place Market Place, where Iíve spent the past couple weeks. My duties include sorting donations and helping with cleanup and recycling. We receive many new items and now, since starting here, I can honestly say this is truly a ďland of plenty!Ē
I also have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for 20 years. My other places of interest are Mississippi River Revival Cleanup, Winona County History Center (back to the mid-1970s), Winona County Public Health doing chores for people (until funding was lost). I spent one summer with Winona County Household Hazardous Waste back in 1991. I received an award from the County Board in July 1991 for my efforts.
Through National Association of Counties my name and that of one other man were given to then President George H.W. Bush. My last volunteer effort (on an annual basis) is the Trinona event.
