Kough, Barbara Jeanne (06/30/2014)
Barbara Jeanne Kough, age 82, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.

Barbara was born on September 28, 1931, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Wilmer and Lillian (Garkow) McKinley. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1948. She graduated from Bryman College in California, where she was first in her class in the medical assistant program.

Barbara married Donald E. Kough on December 26, 1957, at Van Nuys, Calif. Since Don was in the Navy, Barbara and Don lived in many places around the U.S. before settling in Winona in 1976.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Hy-Vee Coffee Club. She loved the many dogs she had as pets over the years; she liked to work crossword puzzles, enjoyed reading and her yearly vacations to Mexico and St. Maarten. She also was a fashion model for various womenís retail stores.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William S. McKinley.

Barbara is survived by husband, Donald; children, Cheri (Wayne) Weis, Zumbrota; Mari (Mike) Blanchard, Spring Valley; and David (Wendy) Kough, Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Justin Halbersma officiating. Planned burial will be in the new Preston, Minn., Veteranís Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday after 10 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to Winona Area Hospice or the Winona Humane Society.

Martin-Myhre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
