People are accusing Hobby Lobby of religious discrimination. I did not read that Hobby Lobby was forcing its employees to abstain from the use of contraceptives due to its owners’ religion. Hobby Lobby agreed to include 16 out of the 20 contraceptives mandated by the ACA in its health care plan; the remaining four are considered abortion-inducing drugs. The owners of Hobby Lobby do not support and refuse to fund abortion for religious reasons. Do people in our country understand religious discrimination and persecution?
Meriam Ibrahim, an American, was jailed in Sudan and faced execution for apostasy because she would not renounce her Christian faith. She gave birth to a baby while chained in prison. Now she fears that her baby might be disabled because of the harsh conditions during labor.
Homosexuality is a crime and is punishable by death in these countries according to the Washington Post: Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Iran, Yemen, and Sudan. It is against the religion in these countries.
People in China are sent to prison for practicing religion.
Which employee will be fired or imprisoned for using contraceptives? Perhaps the owners of Hobby Lobby had faced religious discrimination because of the ACA mandate to fund abortion with the threat of penalties for failure to do so.
