The Minnesota Marine Art Museum has grown to become a comprehensive museum with both awesome art and programs to reach out to children, families, senior citizens and challenged adults.
This museum attracted over 20,000 visitors last year including participants in the many programs, thanks to visionary Director Andrew Maus, excellent staff and over 80 dedicated volunteers. Central to the success of attracting visitors has been very active outreach programs by all through the distribution of the MMAM Exhibition and Program Guide. This guide is provided to all MMAM visitors and mailed to contacts made by the volunteers in their other community endeavors, both locally and nationally. Once such contacts are established, volunteers follow up their effort by networking with the recipients of the MMAM brochure on a continuing basis. In several cases these contacts have become distributors of the MMAM brochure, etc.
Yes, Winona is most fortunate to have this nationally-known museum. A very important factor in the continued growth of the museum is the presence of volunteers willing to do outreach and networking with contacts they have beyond Winona and yes, the state of Minnesota.
We look forward to finding many more citizens willing to volunteer at the museum as greeters, implementing programs for the young and senior citizens, and doing outreach to spread the word about this special treasure in Winona.
