I appreciated your article on the tragic death of Isaac Zafft. The reporter, Amelia Wedemeyer, took the initiative to go beyond a basic police report and inform the Post’s readers of a more accurate picture of Isaac and his unfortunate death.
Ms. Wedemeyer took the time to listen to the family and report the story accordingly. I had the pleasure of knowing Isaac from his youth to manhood as his Boy Scout leader. I thought the Post’s article captured Isaac’s spirit for adventure as well as his individuality.
Thank you for serving your readers and the community with information on an unfortunate incident, but a more accurate assessment of the crime. Had the newspaper “grabbed” the easy information, the readers would have drawn a much different conclusion.
Isaac was portrayed accurately in the article; and thanks to the article, we are better informed.
News judgment is more than a gift. The Post showed sound news judgment and empathy.
