Isaac Zafft, 27, of Winona, had his life taken from him on Monday, July 7, in Penn Valley, Calif. His free spirit will live on forever.
Isaac was born January 28, 1987, In La Crosse, Wis. A graduate of Winona Senior High in 2005, he was a member of Troop 1 of the Boy Scouts of America. His Eagle Scout project was building the cement pads for the Frisbee golf course at Lake Winona. He loved camping, and taught wilderness survival classes at Camp Decorah for several years. Isaac loved to travel, art, music of all kinds, and trains. He made many beloved friends across North America while traveling and working. Friends and family always awaited his next visit and the stories and laughter he would provide. He would help anyone in need. Isaac was an adventurist, but down to earth and practical. Isaac lived the life he loved.
Isaac was preceded in death by his grandma, Shirley Fairchild, and his grandpa, Earl Zafft. Isaac is survived by his parents, Riley and Janet Zafft, of Winona; sister, Nichole (Scott) Zafft-Longaker; nieces, Sonia and Lucie, of Duluth; grandpa, Merton Fairchild; and grandma, Ruth Zafft, of Canton; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Isaac’s life will be held Friday, July 18, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at LaCanne Park in Goodview, Minn., at 6280 Highway 61. In lieu of flowers, please bring a donation for the local food shelf. Isaac cared immensely for the homeless and the food shelf.
