Hebert accuses county of discrimination (07/16/2014)

Former Winona County Administrator Duane Hebert announced on Friday that he will file a claim against Winona County with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, charging the county with violating anti-discrimination laws. Hebert cited state law prohibiting discrimination based on marital status, including the actions of a spouse.

Hebert was fired after an investigation found that he failed to disclose his wife's employment and possible ownership in a solar company seeking a deal with and threatening legal action against the county. The investigation also alleged that Hebert made false statements about when and to whom he made disclosures. The Winona County Board fired him in May for alleged gross misconduct.
