Valentine was doing his job (08/06/2014)
From: Walt Kelly

Winona

Would Wayne Valentine, a former news person, attempt to stifle freedom of speech as implied by a recent letter to the editor? Or, as County Board Chair, was he doing his job according to the guidelines set down by the Winona County Attorney’s office and the Planning and Environmental Services Department?

A call to the County Attorney’s Office confirmed that, as board chair, Wayne was obligated to read the statement prepared by the Attorney’s Office to ensure that those attending the public hearing were aware of the rules under which the hearing would be conducted so the hearing would be fair to everyone.

It is understandable that a charge of “stifling freedom of speech” might be made by an ardent supporter of another candidate willing to cast any stone in hopes of getting their candidate elected.
