One definition of “superhero” is someone of extraordinary talents with superhuman powers and a dedication to protecting and serving the public.
However, what is missing from this definition is that they live and work in Minnesota’s Winona County. I was not aware of this until the tragedy of my sister’s death in early July, which caused me to travel frantically from my residence in Massachusetts with destination to a city I had never been to before, Winona, Minn. I now consider Winona home to people with extraordinary gifts and superhero qualities.
I am writing this to express and share my heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to the wonderful people of Winona County, most notably Investigator Kraig Glover of the sheriff’s department, for the outpouring of compassion, understanding, patience and superior assistance that I received after my sister’s sudden and unexpected death. Investigator Glover, along with Sheriff Brand and his department, the staff of the Riverport Inn, county employee Beth Schmidt, Investigator Paula Johns, Christine Kenny of the Medical Examiner’s Office and the talented coffee baristas of Acoustic Café are all deserving of “superhero” status in my eyes. All possess in one form, or more, gifts of extraordinary talents in compassion, sensitivity, customer service and a genuine desire to help. The outpouring of understanding and assistance that I received in regard to my sister’s death was overwhelming.
I am especially grateful and indebted to Investigator Kraig Glover. I am grateful because of his innate nature of extraordinary phenomenal support, dedication, advice and counsel with all matters related to my sister. I could not have been able to address any of the circumstances and actions needed on my part without him.
Your community is blessed to have Investigator Kraig Glover and the other “superheroes” I acknowledge in this message. Please if you can, share your support for them, too. I will never be able to thank them enough.
