The CEO and Co-Founder of Culver's, Craig Culver, will speak as part of the Winona State University Business Speaker Series, Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at 6 p.m., in the WSU Science Laboratory Center.
Culver along with his wife, Lea, and his parents, George and Ruth Culver, created the niche-market restaurant which features burgers and frozen custard.
For more than three decades, the Culver family owned and operated supper clubs and eateries in the Sauk County, Wis., area. Craig worked at the family restaurants during his college breaks from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
On July 18, 1984, Craig and his family opened the first Culver's in Sauk City, Wis. In 1987, the franchising arm, Culver Franchising System, Inc., was established. The first successful franchise was opened in Baraboo, Wis., in 1990.
The WSU Business Speaker Series was established by Delta Sigma Pi, a professional fraternity at WSU.
