A faith-based Support Group for young women ages 18 and older will be held Wednesdays, beginning February 16, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Rock Solid Youth Center, 75 W. Third St., Winona, Minn.
Sessions are designed for those who have experienced diagnosed eating disorders, or whose eating habits or body image are negatively impacting their lives. Signs of disordered eating are:
Skipping meals consistently or drastically reducing calorie intake to lose weight
Binge eating and purging
Constantly worrying about weight or continuously thinking about food
Excessive restriction or rigidity in how and when they eat
Having a negative image of their body even though people say they are of normal weight
Sessions will focus on God's unique plan for each individual.
Learn how to start treating yourself like the "10" God knows you are and created you to be.
Learn how to fill your brokenness with God instead of food, exercise, or ways to control food intake and use.
Come to understand how negative advertising has influenced our viewpoint of women's bodies in our culture. Learn how to focus instead on letting God's message of truth become the foundation in which your identity is built upon.
Participants may come to any or all sessions. No registration is required. Privacy and confidentiality will be stressed. Facilitators are Ellen Wunderlich, Laura Eddy and Sara Norton.
