The 42nd Annual WAPS Local Science Fair will be held Friday, February 4, 2005 at Winona Middle School for students in grades 5-12. We are in need of approximately 40 judges for the fair to make the most of this educational experience. We are looking for all levels of judging experience, from first time to ISEF level judges. A training session will be held to help the judges prepare for this experience.
Categories for projects include Life Science, Consumer Science, Engineering, Chemistry and Physics. If you have a background or special interest in any of these areas, please consider helping judge these projects and encourage young minds. We will have an informational meeting the day of the fair on how to judge. Judge training handouts and a powerpoint presentation can be used for further training. The meeting will be held at 1:30 pm in the auditorium. Judging will follow the meeting and should be completed around 4:00 pm. If you are interested in judging or simply need more information about being a judge, leave a voicemail message for Ken Mann at (507)494-1135 or send an email kenneth.mann@winona.k12.mn.us .
We are also looking for businesses or industry that may be interested in providing a special award or recognition for projects that best exemplify a particular topic. If you know of someone who would like to provide a special award or judge for special awards, please contact Mr. Mann at 494-1135. We would like to work with all science related industry or local organizations that may be interested in being a part of our local science fair.
Science Fair judges will also be needed for the regional science fair to be
held at Winona State University on March 4, 2005. The state science fair will be held at St. Paul on April 2-5, 2005. Contact Mr. Mann or refer to the project science website at www.rschooltoday.com/winonamiddle/project science . Thanks to all who can help out!
