Rotary student of the month
Rotary Club of Winona recently awarded the November Student of the Month. The recipient is Nina Sugaya. Nina is the daughter of Hisayo Sugaya and is a senior at Winona Senior High School.
Through school Nina has been a part of National Honor Society, she serves on the student council, participates in Model Legislature, the Knowledge Bowl, H.O.P.E, girls soccer and track and field.
Nina has also been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Hands on Tokyo, was a junior counselor at Camp Winona and a translator for ambassadors to and from Japan.
Nina has plans to pursue a degree in industrial engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
The Rotary Club of Winona congratulates this outstanding student and is pleased to recognize Nina’s accomplishments and service to the community.
Each month a different student is selected as the Rotary Student of the Month. At the end of the school year one of the students will receive a $500 scholarship.
