Matter of Faith: Read the Bible

From: David Foss

An inadequate taking in of God’s Word leaves us defenseless against all the evil that lurks deceptively before us. Without God and Scripture, we are easy targets for Satan and his wily accomplices and their ungodly devices.

We need to share the “good news” of Jesus Christ and the Bible with those who have been duped by Satan ... those who are being fooled into believing that Satan means them well.

Why should we be afraid to search through the book that has a certain solution to overcoming any bad attribute — 100-percent guaranteed? The answers to all of life’s problems lie within one book: the Bible. Read it! Don’t be eternally regretful.

Did Adolf Hitler realize he was a lost sinner, that there is a penalty for sin? Did he realize that God’s Son paid the penalty for all sin? Did Adolf Hitler realize that in order to receive eternal life, he had to believe in God as his Savior? Adolf Hitler did not believe in God. He did not repent of his sins. He did not receive Jesus Christ as his Savior. Luke 1:46-47. Adolf Hitler will experience everlasting punishment in a literal hell.

God clearly explains in Scripture what everyone needs to do to become unlost, or saved. The three key words throughout Scripture are believe, repent, and receive. God offers everyone His free gift of eternal life but, tragically, many will reject Jesus Christ and His eternal gift.

Unknowingly, members of cults and pagan religions are strictly indoctrinated with man-pleasing verbiage. They are seemingly unaware of the eternal consequences of adhering to such fallaciousness. A great number of saved, scripturally-sound, Biblical scholars could prove to these people the errors of their man-inspired book, yet they would unyielding and foolishly hold on to the cult’s doctrine of deliberate distortion.

Have you ever heard someone angrily say this about Jesus Christ: “I don’t need that crutch”? This is a most wicked and offensive insult about our Lord and Savior. God, who created everything, is weak? A more insensible absurdity could not have been uttered. When comparing Jesus Christ’s strength with that of man, all the world’s men couldn’t lift a microscopic cell.

Since each denomination is feeding its members with either God’s Truth or man’s falsehood and tradition, it is of utmost importance that we become knowledgeable in God’s Word, the Bible. Why is this such a vital concern? Because belief in the falsehood and tradition of man leads to a place where there will be eternal weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:41-42), while belief in God and His Truth leads to a place where there will be fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. Man says there isn’t such a horrible place as hell; God says that there is such a place. Who is telling the truth — man or God?

If we were in a building and someone yelled “Fire!” would we ever say “Not now, maybe later”? Sanely, we would always do the only sensible thing — we would heed these warnings instantly because our lives would be at risk. Scripture includes warnings from God that we should heed this very moment. The one that should have priority is this: our need of salvation; accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior before it is too late. Our life could end as a child, a teenager, an adult, or a senior citizen. Remember! Eternal bliss or eternal misery will be experienced in our final place of existence, forever.

Unbeknownst to a vast majority, there are those who stand behind the pulpits of the world who are intentionally preaching and teaching abomination; that which will send us to hell. We know that Satan and his assistants’ goal is to deceive the entire world. As of this day, these trumpeters of untruth have deceived the vast majority of church-going folk. Why has this happened? Because these people have not read the Bible.

Ponder Isaiah 34:16, Proverbs 2:1-5, Proverbs 3:13-15, Proverbs 4:5, 7, 20-21, Proverbs 8:10-11, II Timothy 2:15.

Why read the Bible? Because where we spend eternity is at stake.
