Habitat for Humanity Winona-Fillmore Counties sends its most heartfelt thanks to the many generous donors that helped meet the $40,000 in matching grants offered through a partnership with The Slaggie Family Foundation and Steve & Jane Napieralski!
It’s clear that the Winona area is filled with individuals who are willing to act to ensure the health and safety of their neighbors.
Due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus, Habitat had to postpone its annual dinner and temporarily close the doors of its ReStore. Without these major funding sources, Habitat’s upcoming season of repair and construction became unsure. But with the realization of this generous gift, Habitat for Humanity has been able to get back to work!
Habitat’s A Brush With Kindness program, which assists local homeowners with low-cost exterior repairs and safety modifications, is once again taking applications on its website. In partnership with the Winona Friendship Center, Habitat is also offering its services through Chore Corps, a program focusing on small home repair projects and yard work for local residents. In partnership with Grace Place, Habitat is painting and updating a new shelter for local families. With the help of Denny’s Roofing, Habitat is replacing leaky roofs on three local homes. And that is just the start of what is shaping up to be a very busy construction season serving neighbors in need of a safe place to live.
Because of the generosity and support from the community, Habitat for Humanity is able to continue its mission even in these uncertain times. Thank you for joining in building homes, community, and hope.
