Trying to figure out how you can support yourself, your neighbor and your community during these challenging times? Looking for uplifting talks and conversations about how to engage in the community and create positive local change?
Join Engage Winona for free monthly online gatherings this fall, designed to connect Winonans with each other and strengthen the community.
The gatherings will be held the last Saturday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to noon using the online video platform Zoom. Learn more and RSVP on Engage Winona’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/engagewinona, or www.engagewinona.org.
• Saturday, August 29, 10:30 a.m. to noon: CONNECTION — Telling stories to bring people together
• Saturday, September 26, 10:30 a.m. to noon: CHANGE — Moving from conflict to communion
• Saturday, October 31, 10:30 a.m. to noon: CARE — Tending to yourselves, your neighbors, and your community
Each gathering will feature music and poetry from local artists, talks on civic engagement and creating change, and opportunities for residents to share stories and engage in conversation.
The goal with each Civic Saturday event is to strengthen connections as Winonans, nourish good ideas for local change, and imagine new ways of working to build a strong community in times of deep conflict and overwhelming change.
Engage Winona’s executive director, Brian Voerding, will host each gathering. Voerding recently completed a national fellowship with Citizen University, and is one of dozens of fellows now hosting Civic Saturday gatherings across the United States.
Engage Winona has a limited ability to connect interested folks with technical support and access to devices. If this is a need for you, please call 507-312-9133 and leave a message.
