Ping to take over Winhawks’ boys soccer program


Winona Senior High School Activities Director Casey Indra announced that Garrett Ping has been named the Winhawks’ boys soccer coach.

Ping has coached youth soccer in the area for 15-plus years, including time with Winona Euro FC and the Winona Youth Soccer Association. He has also coached in La Crosse, La Crescent and Bloomington, Minn.

Ping was a three-time captain of the Aquinas High School team in La Crosse and a two-time all-conference player in the MVC. He was a two-time representative of the Wisconsin Olympic Development team at the region tournament.

He played at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., where he was part of the Oles’ 1998 MIAC championship team and member of the NCAA Division III national tournament qualifier.
