Winona Health Foundation appreciates community support through Trees of Light

(3/3/2021)

During a year dominated by a global pandemic, the Winona-area community lit it up during the Winona Health Foundation’s annual Trees of Light tradition.

The Foundation’s Trees of Light campaign keeps gifts local, with a focus on helping community members. Those who give by remembering and honoring special people through a gift to the Winona Health Foundation direct their gift to a specific fund or to the area of greatest need, knowing their gift will help those right here in our community.

“The Trees of Light campaign is a meaningful tradition that’s important to continue, and we had no idea what to expect during the year we’ve all been through,” said Katrice Sisson, community and donor relations manager. “We were overwhelmed by and grateful for people’s support. There are individuals and families who have been giving since the Trees of Light’s beginning in 1988, and new people continue to join in the tradition every year with gifts in memory or honor of those who are important to them.”

This year, through the 2020 Trees of Light campaign, 771 people gave a total of $54,331 to support the Winona Health Foundation’s mission. This is an increase over 2019, when 655 contributed a total of $38,445. This year, the majority of contributors by far directed their gift to the area of greatest need. One of the benefits this fund made possible in 2020 is the free community flu vaccination clinics held throughout October, making flu vaccine easily accessible for all community members.
