Special Athletic Track and Field May 17


The 2019 Special Athletic Track and Field Competition will take place on Friday, May 17, at Paul Giel Field (or the Saint Mary’s University Fieldhouse if it rains) in Winona. Please join for the Parade of Athletes at 9:30 and then cheer for the 225 athletes from 23 different schools while they participate in a variety of events.

This track and field event is for an annual highlight for students from kindergarten through high school who have varying abilities. Athletes have the opportunity to compete in events such as the beanbag toss, softball throw, ball kick, running long jump, 50-yard dash and a relay race. There will be bounce houses, face painting and games for the athletes.

This event is sponsored by Winona Area Public Schools with support from Kiwanis Club of Winona, Sunrisers; Alliant Castings; Jim’s Truck and Trailer Coachwerks; Excel Images; Fastenal, The Red Men Club #20; Merchants Bank; Benchmark Electronics; Kimo’s Portable Toilets; and Shannon Meier Photography.

The public is welcomed to attend the 44th year of the Winona Area Public Schools’ Special Athletic Competition from 9:15 a.m. to approximately 12 p.m.
