Jiu-Jitsu students shine at Fuji State


On February 8, 2020, six Jiu-Jitsu students from Flow Yoga and Martial Arts of Winona competed in the Fuji Missouri State Championship Grappling Tournament in St. Louis, Mo., under the banner of Team Vaghi. Robert Lupton competed at 170 pounds intermediate No-Gi, blue belt in Gi, and the open weight blue belt division. Noah Hauser competed at 155 pounds intermediate No-Gi masters division where he placed first. Trevor Roes competed at 170 pounds advanced white belt in Gi as well as beginner No-Gi where he took second place. Matthew Hartley competed at 185 pounds white belt in Gi and intermediate No-Gi, winning first place in both divisions. Jonas Sublett competed at 215 pounds plus white belt in Gi where he took first place and intermediate where he placed third. Matthew Larsen competed at 170 pounds beginner No-Gi and took third place. Team Vaghi won the competition overall in the kids and adult brackets. Matthew Hartley won all seven of his matches by submission.
