Rhubarb Fest is back on June 9!

The Third Annual Salute to Rhubarb Fest will take place on Saturday, June 9, at Fountain City Park. The event starts at 9 a.m.

The Gilbert Brown Foundation and Great River Harbor are teaming up to make the day fun filled. Gilbert Brown, former Green Bay Packer, will be on hand to host a game. At this time donation of items to sell during this event are being collected. Contact Claire at 608-687-8419 to make a donation.

There will be a co-ed volleyball tournament starting at 9 a.m. Individuals and teams are encouraged to participate. Information about the tournament and more details can be obtained by calling Steve at 608-279-9248.

The tasting contest will be back by popular demand. Area cooks and bakers exhibit their favorite rhubarb product. The winner is determined through audience participation.

New this year is the obstacle course that will use the playground area. Students from the Cochrane-Fountain City Schools have designed the course. They will supervise the activity and record times.

Other events include the arts and craft area, tossing of the rhubarb, largest leaf contest and the jam fest. Food vendors of the area such as Lonnie Adank’s gyro sandwiches and Rubio’s Mexican food truck will be present.
