Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board of Supervisors will hold its regular monthly board meeting on Wednesday, November 13, at 9 a.m. at the Winona County USDA Service Center, 400 Wilson Street North, Lewiston.

November 14

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, November 14, at 7 p.m., in the Great Hall of Watkins Manor, 175 East Wabasha Street, Winona. The presentation will feature an informative video followed by a discussion of “The Common Soldier” in the Civil War. Everyone is invited to this event, and refreshments will be served.

November 20

Harvest House is a service organization that acknowledges older adults’ value and dignity. Its purposes are to cultivate and implement social awareness, service to others, new religious experiences, educational and cultural opportunities, recreational, celebration, and community involvement. It come together to remain active and alert members of society. Harvest House collects and then donates food each month to a nonprofit agency to help a family in need. Members are asked to please bring a food item to donate to each meeting.

Harvest House meets in the basement of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on the third Wednesday of each month from September through June. The November 20, 2019, meeting will start at 1:30 p.m. and the Winona Forget Me Notes will perform.
Membership is open to both men and women of all backgrounds and beliefs. New members are always welcome and annual dues are just $5. For more information please call Bonnie at 507-454-2717.

The “Before Noon” widows group meets every Monday during November at 11 a.m. During the month of November, the group will go to Jefferson’s. All widows and widowers are welcome. For more information, call 507-454-2765.

The Ribbon Warriors cancer support group meets at Callista Court, 1455 West Broadway, every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. This is a group of women who celebrate that they have had cancer and are beating it. Military Order of the Purple Heart meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Winona VFW Post, 208 East Third Street, Winona, at 7 p.m. Those who are or know a combat wounded veteran may join. Membership is free and the group will keep you informed and help you navigate the Veterans Administration.

The Winona Area Bariatric Support Group meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive, Winona.

Winona International Dancers meets every Monday from 7:45-9:45 p.m. at the Valencia Center, 1164 West 10th Street (entrance off Vila Street). This is a fun group of adults of all ages who gather weekly to share their love of ethnic dancing. Dual Recovery Anonymous, an open support group for adults with mental illness and substance abuse issues, meets every Saturday, from 1-2 p.m. at Peer Support Network, 122 West Second Street, Winona.

WSU Recovery Warriors meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Lutheran Campus Center, 451 Huff Street. This group assists students in recovery from substance use disorders and other addictive behaviors.

NAMI: Family Mental Illness Support Group
. Do you have a loved one living with a mental illness? If so, this group provides a place for you that offers information, respect, understanding, and hope. Meetings are on the second Monday of the month from 7-8:30 p.m. at Winona Health, Parkview Conference Room. There is no fee; just walk in and join. NAMI Connection: A Mental Illness Support Group.
This self-help group for people with a mental illness that are working towards wellness is a place to find acceptance, support and friendship. It meets every Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the PSN Building, 122 West Second Street. There is no fee, just walk in and join. Peer Support Network (PSN) is open seven days a week. The hours are Mondays, 9-8; Tuedays and Thursdays, 9-5; Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-7 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays, 1-5. PSN is located at 420 East Sarnia Street in Winona.
