December 28

The Winona Area Coin Club will be meeting on Sunday, December 28, at 12 noon at the Eagles Club, 210 East Fourth Street, Winona. Upcoming events will be reviewed and discussed. The Lois Club will meet Tuesday, December 30, at 12:30 p.m. at the Winona Family Restaurant.

January 4, 2015

Birthright of Winona plans to hold its Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 4, at 1 p.m. in the Willow Brook Community Room, 1420 East Burns Valley Road. All Birthright volunteers and anyone interested in Birthright are encouraged to attend.

January 8

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, January 8, at 7 p.m. on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. The Rev. Tim Forester will deal with a topic rarely covered in his presentation entitled, “Civil War Chaplains.” All are invited to this unusual event, and refreshments will be served.

January 9

Cathedral’s Young at Heart will meet on January 8, starting with 12:10 p.m. Mass followed by a lunch of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, creamed peas, cottage cheese with mandarin oranges, roll, and chocolate cake. Entertainment will be harpist St. Mary Jo Baldus. Make reservations by calling Marge at 454-3433 no later than January 5. The cost is $3; all are welcome.

January 12

The January 2015 board meeting of the Stockton, Rollingstone, Minnesota City Watershed District will be held on January 12, at 7 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center in Stockton, Minn.

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. Caregiver Support Group for Adults Age 55 & Better Group provides an opportunity to meet with other caregivers to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, as well as learn about new resources. The group meets the 1st Wednesday of each month from 2-3 p.m. at the Elder Network office, 1756 Kraemer Drive, Suite 110, Winona.  Contact Renee Kreter at 452-0580 for more information.

Peer Support Network (PSN) is open 7 days per week. Hours are: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m-2 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. PSN is located at 122 West Second St. in Winona.

The Ribbon Warriors cancer support group meets at Callista Court, 1455 W. Broadway, every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. We are all women who celebrate that we have had cancer and we are beating it. Ribbon Warriors is open to any woman who has been diagnosed with cancer and would like to come join us. If you have any questions you may call Diane Passehl at 507-452-2679.

Military Order of the Purple Heart meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Winona VFW Post, 208 East Third St., Winona, at 7:00 p.m. If you are, or know a combat wounded veteran, come join us. Membership is free and we will keep you informed and help you navigate the Veterans Administration.

Al-Anon and AA meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive, Winona.

The Winona Area Bariatric Support Group meets the second Thursday each month at 5:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive, Winona.

The Widowed Persons Social Group meets for breakfast every Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. at Hy-Vee. Dinners every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at China King Buffet for December, except for December 25. Dual Recovery Anonymous an open support group for adults with mental illness and substance abuse issues meets every Saturday, from 1-2 p.m. at Peer Support Network, 122 West Second Street, Winona.
 
NAMI Connection:  A Mental Illness Support Group This self-help group for people recovering from mental illness is a place to find acceptance, support and friendship. It meets every Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the PSN Building, 122 West Second Street. There is no fee, just walk in and join the group. For more information call facilitators Judy (507) 459-3475, Richard (507) 454-5472, or Helen Newell at (507) 494-0905.  This event is cosponsored by (NAMI) National Alliance on Mental Illness, Winona Affiliate and Project COMPASS, a Winona Area Public School Community Education disability program.
