Justin, Carol Ann (Dressell)

Her heart no longer strong enough to sustain life, our dear Carol Ann Justin, at the young age of 80, left her earthly family to join her heavenly Father and precious family members who went before her. Carol passed into eternal life on December 25, 2019, while spending Christmas day at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Scott. Carol was born to Louis and Gladys (Kanz) Drussell in Winona, Minn., on January 28, 1939. She attended Madison Elementary School and Winona Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1957. Carol then married and throughout the next years became the proud mother of six children. In 1985, she and her younger children moved to Florida where they resided for a few years before she moved to California, then eventually moved back to Winona permanently. After returning to Winona, she became a customer service representative at RTP Company from which she retired.

Carol lived a relatively simple and undemanding life in which she was happiest giving and receiving love from those she cared about. As can be in life, she faced many struggles and challenges over the years, but prevailed due to the loving support of her family. Carol cherished the times spent with family during holidays and other special occasions. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which was shown through the many decorations she proudly displayed. Each year in the spring, she could be found outside planting flowers and placing decorations around her home. Her favorite hobbies included arts and crafts such as knitting, ceramic painting, making window art glass, as well as refinishing wood furniture. Her talents naturally carried over to stylishly decorating her home. She had a special interest in antique furniture, of which one could find a variety of lovely pieces placed caringly around her home. Carol most recently became absorbed in the adult coloring book craze, in which she took great care in choosing the right colors for each picture and was especially careful to stay inside the lines! As in all of her crafts, the end products were always beautiful and cherished by those who received them. In earlier years, Carol was a member of the Minnesota Women’s Bowling Association and for many seasons had a blast bowling on a team with her mom and a sister. Carol also was a devout (putting it mildly) Michael Jordan/Chicago Bulls basketball fan for many years and rarely missed a game.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Scott; and brother, Richard Drussell. She is survived by sons Thomas (Mary) Scott, Terry (Laurie Potter) Justin, Michael Justin, and Steve (Tammy) Justin; daughter, Michelle (Bill) Maytidu; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild (with one on the way); brother, Gerald Drussell; sisters, Judy (Dave) Morrison and Nancy Hopf; sister-in-law, Martha Drussell; uncle, Vernon Kanz; and many nieces and nephews.

We will miss you always, Carol, and send our deepest love and blessings with you into your everlasting life with our Lord in heaven. Rest in peace now, dearest Carol, rest in peace.

Services for Carol will be held at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
