Mary J. Emmons, 81, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at her home.
Mary Joann was born on July 7, 1938, in Wabasha County, Minn., to Robert and Wilhelmina (Passe) Hanson. She graduated from St. Felix High School, Wabasha. On May 12, 1956, she married Harold Emmons and together they raised five children.
Mary was employed at St. Croix Knits, Winona, for 45 years. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed camping, canning, cards, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; four children, Jeffrey Emmons, Winona, Jacquelyn Wodele, Wabasha, Patricia (Gary) Dare, Winona, and Scott (Josephine) Emmons, Nelson, Wis.; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Art (Mary Lynn) Hanson, Wabasha, Minn., Larry (Barb) Hanson, Wabasha, Minn., and Bill Hanson, Kellogg, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Elaine Hanson, Wabasha, Gayle Hanson, Hopkins, Minn., and Barb Hanson, Alma, Wis.; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Emmons; son-in-law, Joseph Wodele; brothers, Donald Hanson, Richard Hanson and John Hanson; and sister, Marlene Hanson.
Private family services were held. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
