Joan M. Benter, 63, of 966 West Third St., Winona, died Friday, December 29, 2006, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, LaCrosse, Wis.
Joan was born February 14, 1943, in Winona, to Roman and Rose (Pellowski) Springer. She attended Cotter High School. She married Ronald Benter on September 17, 1960, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilson, Minn.
Joan worked for St. Anne Extended Healthcare and was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She was an angel collector and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; three sons, Mark (Julia) Benter of Rushford, Minn., Jeffrey (Lisa Salisbury) Benter of Winona, and Curtis (Kelly) Benter of Lewiston, Minn.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five brothers, Tom (Nancy) Springer of Winona, Franklin (Lucy) Springer of Bangor, Wis., Robert Springer of New York, Hank (Mary Beth) Springer of St. Cloud, Minn., and John (Joyce) Springer of Goodview, Minn.; and two sisters, Rosalie Tieman of Colorado, and Barbara Perkins of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend John M. Sauer officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home.
