William F. "Butch" Wojchik Sr., 86, of Waumandee, WI, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, MN.
He was born May 1, 1920, in Waumandee, WI, to Lawrence and Mary (Schmidt) Wojchik. On October 26, 1942, Butch married Amelia Suchla at the Armory, after St. Stanislaus Catholic Church had burned.
Butch was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, had served on the Cemetery Committee, and had been an usher. In addition to farming, he drove school bus for 17 years for the Cochrane-Fountain City School District. Butch was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Rod and Gun Club, and the Community Club. He served on the Buffalo County Board of Supervisors and also served as a Chairman and Supervisor for the Town of Waumandee. Butch was also a 16-year member of the Waumandee/Montana Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Wojchik of Waumandee; 4 sons: Gerald (Peggy) Wojchik of Cochrane, WI, Roger Wojchik of Arcadia, WI, Kenneth (Pat) Wojchik of Eau Claire, WI, and William E. (Renata) Wojchik of Fountain City, WI; 4 daughters: Lois (Peter) Smith of Laverne, CA, Susan (George) Lettner of Winona, MN, Judy (James) Slaby of Arcadia, WI, and Jane Giemza of Arcadia, WI; daughter-in-law: Mary Wojchik of LaCrosse, WI; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Butch is further survived by his brother: Leo (Irene) Wojchik of Rochester, MN; and sister-in-law: Cleo Wojchik of Waumandee, WI.
Preceding Butch in death were his son: Ronald; two daughters in infancy, Mary and Ruthann; grandson: Joseph Wojchik; and brothers and sisters: Raymond and John Wojchik, Florence Franzwa, Leona Schmidtknecht, Dorothy Wojchik, and twins, Hester and Lester in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee, with Father Michael Klos officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.
