Mary Lou Leisen, age 90, of Minneiska, Minn., died Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Sauer Health Care in Winona, Minn., surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 17, 1928, the daughter of Art and Lucille Hartert. She graduated from St. Felix High School in Wabasha, Minn. She married Leo Leisen on September 17, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minneiska. They were married for 49 years. Mary dedicated her life to raising her eight children and later went to work at Camera Art in Lewiston for 15 years.

Mary looked forward to family get-togethers and was proud of her large family. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, shopping, her flower gardens, reading and fishing with Leo.

Mary is survived by her eight children, Susan (Terry) Peterson, Apple Valley, Minn., Jane (Ron) McNamara, Hastings, Minn., Dan (Kris) Leisen, Rushford, Minn., Brendan (Julie) Leisen, Kellogg, Minn., Tim (Lisa Schossow) Leisen, Minneiska, Minn., Jerre (Bob) Klinger, Rollingstone, Minn., Scott (Mari) Leisen, Deltona, Fla., Bill (Angie) Leisen, Bloomer, Ariz. She left behind 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dick (Ruth) Hartert, and Leigh (Joni) Hartert; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents; three brothers, Art, Jim and Joe Hartert; and grandson, Taylor Leisen.

Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Minneiska, on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Chinnappa Pothireddy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are all of her grandchildren.
