The Cotter High School Music Department will present a choir spring concert on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in the St. Cecilia Theatre. Performing groups will include the Cotter High School Concert Choir and Show Choir and the Cotter Junior High Choir.
Some of the Cotter High School Concert Choir selections will include “Requiem,” arranged by Craig Hella-Johnson and “Durme, Durme” and “Seal Lullaby” by Eric Whitacre. The Concert Choir selections performed in the spring concert are considered more of a “contest-type” genre.
The Cotter Show Choir’s selections are more popular and contemporary in nature, and will include “Sing,” recorded by Pentatonix. The Junior High Choir selections will include an African piece entitled “Tue, Tue,” and well as “Shout Allelu,” and more.
The Cotter choirs are under the direction of Cathy Snyder. Mark Roeckers will accompany the Show Choir and Junior High School Choir on piano. Laurie Broghammer will accompany the High School Concert Choir. Madeline Beuning is the Show Choir choreographer.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The Cotter Concert Choir will also participate in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Sub-Section 3 Large Group Music Contest on Tuesday, March 19, at this year’s host school Dover-Eyota. Choirs and bands from MSHSL Sub-Section 3 will perform throughout the day and be critiqued by three judges.
March is Music In Our Schools Month and this year’s theme is “all music, all people.”
