Thanks to the Lewiston Economic Development Authority (EDA), one dilapidated downtown building will look refreshed and ready for business in the next year.
The Lewiston EDA is pleased to announce the sale of the EDA-owned property at 295 East Main Street. Lang's Dairy Equipment of Decorah, Iowa, has purchased the property with plans for a major renovation that will bring a Dairy Equipment Service Center to Lewiston.
Dairy customers will recognize the names BouMatic, Agromatic and MEDA, which will be some of the brand names brought to the Lewiston site. The EDA welcomes Lang's Dairy Equipment, a business that has provided dairy equipment to Northeast Iowa and Southeast Minnesota for more than 60 years, to the Lewiston's Main Street Business District.
“Hopefully, it will be the first of many more businesses who will decide to renovate existing buildings, or who will build new facilities in the Main Street district making this their home. The EDA's mission is to support existing businesses in the city of Lewiston, and to bring new businesses to increase the economic strength of our city. The citizens of Lewiston have expressed their desire to have renovation and new construction on Main Street for many years. We hope that Lang's Dairy Equipment will be the cornerstone of our effort to improve this area,” said EDA Chair Jon Nienow.
