The Winona Health Foundation’s Ben & Adith Miller Classic features a free public exhibition by World Golf Hall of Fame inductee Nancy Lopez, Monday, August 9 at 10 a.m., at Cedar Valley Golf Course at 25019 County Road 9 in Winona.

Lopez is ranked in the top 50 players — male or female — in golf history. She won the New Mexico Women’s Amateur at age 12 and went on to become the only woman to win the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year and the Vare Trophy in the same season. In her first full season on the LGPA Tour, she won nine tournaments, including five in a row and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated (1978). Lopez was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987. In 1990, she was a member of the United States Solheim Cup team and was captain of the team in 2005. Since joining the LPGA Tour in 1977, she has won 48 LPGA Tour events. To share her love of golf, she started Nancy Lopez Golf Adventures in 2014.

The Ben & Adith Miller Classic is an annual golf outing that began in 1990 and is a fundraiser for the Winona Health Foundation’s Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund. The Patient Care Fund was established by Benjamin Miller in 1986, in honor of his wife Adith, as a unique community resource to help people in need pay for medical care at Winona Health.
