Winona Police 

Tuesday, September 7

• At 9:50 a.m. officers received a report that the back of a vehicle was damaged when it was parked on the 750 block of East Fifth Street over the weekend. 

• At 12:03 p.m. officers received a report that a maroon 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen on the 950 block of West Fifth Street. The vehicle has large tires, according to the report, and its license plates were taken off and left at the scene of the theft. 

• At 12:23 p.m. officers received a report that a package was stolen from a home’s front steps on the 1400 block of West Broadway. 

• At 5:15 p.m. officers received a report of a disturbance among juveniles on the 250 block of East Third Street in which one’s nose was allegedly hurt. The incident is under investigation. 

• At 6:37 p.m. officers received a report of alleged child abuse. The incident is under investigation. 

Wednesday, September 8

• At about 1 a.m. officers arrested Zachary Sheridan Cummings, 26, of Neosho, Mo., and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of driving while intoxicated and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. Officers initially responded to a report of a driver unconscious at the wheel of a vehicle on the 1000 block of Sugar Loaf Road. A breath test reportedly measured his blood-alcohol content at 0.13 percent. Officers also found marijuana wax in the vehicle, according to the report. 

Thursday, September 9

• At 9:50 a.m. officers received a report that a package containing a power tool was stolen on the 350 block of East Broadway. 

Friday, September 10

• At 4:21 p.m. officers cited Michael Richard Zeller, 39, of Winona, for violating a harassment restraining order after he allegedly emailed a person the order prevents him from contacting. 

Saturday, September 11

• At 11:16 p.m. officers received a report that about $3,400 of fishing gear was stolen from a storage unit on the 50 block of St. Charles Street. 

Sunday, September 12

• At 12:21 a.m. officers received a report that an apartment was ransacked on the 350 block of East Fifth Street. The incident is under investigation. 

• At 9:32 a.m. officers received a report that a parking sign was stolen on the 400 block of Mankato Avenue. 

 

Winona County

Tuesday, September 7

• At 10:30 a.m. deputies received a report that three boathouses were broken into in Minnesota City. Speakers and fishing gear were stolen, according to the report. 

Thursday, September 9

• At 10 a.m. deputies arrested Joshua Gerald Gibbs, 36, and Carrie Sue Schumann, 40, both of Stockton, and referred them to the county attorney for potential charges of possession of controlled substances. Deputies also referred Gibbs for a potential charge of ineligible person possessing a pistol. According to the report, deputies found 12.5 grams of methamphetamine, 9.5 grams of marijuana and 150 rounds of ammunition while executing a search warrant as part of a narcotics investigation at a Stockton Trailer Court residence. 

Friday, September 10

• At 7:22 p.m. deputies arrested Jose Juan Bustillos Cavazos, 23, of Winona, and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of burglary and domestic assault. He allegedly forced his way into a Hidden Valley residence and assaulted a woman there. 

Sunday, September 12

• At 12:44 a.m. deputies arrested Dameck Duane Olson, 19, of Holmen, Wis., on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Deputies initially stopped him for allegedly speeding on Highway 14 and Stockton Hill. Potential charges are pending blood-test results.
