Monday, June 28

• At 1:28 p.m. officers received a report that someone stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle on the 1600 block of Homer Road. 

• At 11 p.m. officers received a report that someone appeared to have broken the front windows of a vehicle out with a brick on the 350 block of Laird Street. 

Tuesday, June 29

• At 11:39 p.m. officers received a report that someone allegedly broke out the windshield of a vehicle with what appeared to be a baseball bat on the 200 block of East Fourth Street. The suspect is known to the vehicle owner, according to the report. The incident is under investigation. 

Wednesday, June 30

• At 10:21 a.m. officers received a report of a dog bite from a woman on the 800 block of West 11th Street. The incident is under investigation.

• At 5:51. p.m. officers received a report of a rattlesnake on the 1300 block of Skyline Drive and called in a snake handler to remove it.

Thursday, July 1

• At 1:31 p.m. officers received a report of a cat biting a woman on the 50 block of East Third Street.

• At 1:48 p.m. officers responded to a report of a dog biting a woman in the neck after she bent down to pet it on Prairie Island. Officers were unable to locate the dog or its owner; the incident is under investigation.

• At 4:38 p.m. officers responded to an unexpected death after a 42-year-old Winona woman was found dead at a residence on the 150 block of East Sarnia Street. There were no apparent signs of foul play, according to police.

• Officers arrested Jonathan Daniel Wilson, 32, of Winona, and referred him for possible charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. Officers stopped Wilson for an illegal lane change and observed him making furtive movements and appearing nervous, before he allegedly told officers he had marijuana in the vehicle. In a search, officers allegedly found two containers of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.

• At 12:58 a.m. officers arrested Bradley Alexander Sula, 22, of Winona, on possible charges of third-degree driving while intoxicated after he was stopped for speeding at McBride and Fourth streets. Officers reported Sula had bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech. A breath test measured his blood-alcohol level at 0.17 percent.

• At 1:09 a.m. officers arrested James Ray Sotelo, 30, of Winona, on possible charges of second-degree driving while intoxicated. Officers allegedly observed Sotelo passed out in his vehicle at a stoplight, and a breath test measured his blood-alcohol content at 0.16 percent. Due to a prior conviction, Sotelo was referred for the more serious, second-degree charge.

 

Winona County

Monday, June 28

• At 10:10 p.m. deputies arrested Edwin Diaz Carrasco, 45, of Plainview, Minn., and referred him to the county attorney for a potential charge of driving while intoxicated. Deputies initially pulled him over for allegedly driving the wrong way on Highway 61 near Hy-Vee. A breath test reportedly measured his blood-alcohol content at 0.10 percent. 

Wednesday, June 30

• At 10:21 a.m. deputies arrested Cole Christopher Colbert, 57, of Dakota, and referred him for potential charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree driving while intoxicated, test refusal, and damage to property. Deputies responded to a complaint from a homeowner on County Road 1 that a vehicle had driven through his yard and into nearby woods. On arrival, deputies allegedly found Colbert in the vehicle with a package that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Thursday, July 1

• At 10:38 p.m. deputies received a report of an ATV driver injured after striking a deer near Blackberry Road and County Road 17 south of Winona. According to the report, the driver, a 22-year-old Winona man, was taken to the hospital by his family with non-critical injuries.

Wednesday, June 30

• Prosecutors charged Tara Lynn Brown, 37, of Winona, with two counts of burglary after she allegedly admitted to stealing items from a house on West 11th Street in Winona in January. According to a Winona Police Department investigation, a witness reported that Brown had stolen items from the house, and Brown allegedly admitted to doing so.

• Prosecutors charged Alicia Lashay Moore, 25, of St. Paul, Minn., with gross misdemeanor theft after she allegedly stole $534 worth of clothing from a Winona store on June 7. According to Winona Police Department investigation, security footage showed Moore allegedly not scanning or paying for the items at a self-checkout station before leaving the store.

Thursday, June 24

• Three people were taken to a local hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after their two vehicles collided on Highway 61 and Bundy Boulevard. One person was in one vehicle, and the two other people were in another vehicle. The people included a 19-year-old Winona woman, 61-year-old Texas woman, and 73-year-old Texas man. 

 

Trempealeau County

Wednesday, June 30

• At 9 p.m. deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash south of Arcadia. According to deputies, the driver of a sedan — who deputies suspect was intoxicated — failed to yield while turning left from Norway Valley Road onto southbound Highway 93 and was struck by a northbound SUV. Both drivers were seriously injured and transported to hospitals, with at least one being flown by a Gundersen Health System helicopter. As of press time, the Sheriff’s office had not released the names of either driver. An investigation is ongoing.
