Cotter cross country: Girls take 2nd, Semling wins

The Cotter girls cross country team placed second out of 19 teams at the 48th Bill Glomski Invitational in Stewartville, Minn., last Thursday. Cotter Schools narrowly beat out Lanesboro with a low score of 120 to 125, respectively, while Chatfield took first place with a score of 82.

Cotter freshman Sonja Semling was the overall winner of the varsity 5K with a time of 19:43.8 minutes. Freshman Hazel Freyre took 15th overall with a pace of 21:42 minutes. 

The Cotter boys cross country team finished in 10th place out of 20 teams, with sophomore John Fritts leading the way with a seventh overall finish and a time of 17:46.2 minutes.
